Geosynthetics are widely used in hydraulic engineering. They are used in a wide range of areas such as canal, river, harbor construction works, coastal protection and sludge dewatering. These products fulfill many functions such as separation, filtration, drainage, erosion protection, strengthening, sealing, and embankment protection.
By using geosynthetic dewatering tubes, manufactured in varying diameters and lengths, the contaminated sludges dredged from sea, lake, dam, mine wastes, and riverbed can be stored and disposed without harming the nature.
Dewatering performance can be improved by adding some flocculants before the dredged sludge is pumped into the tubes. The content of these flocculants is determined upon analyses of the existing sludge in the area. Addition of flocculants accelerates drainage of the water in the dredged sludge leaving only solid materials in the tube.
