CM Sindh Presided Meeting Over ‘Mega Development Package’ For Keenjhar Lake
The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah today presiding over a meeting, nodded for launching a Mega Development Package for lining of 43-km long K.B. feeder upper cannel from Keenjhar Lake to Karachi at its estimated cost of Rs 20 billion to avoid the water losses due to the seepage and use the saved water for K-4 water project of Karachi and irrigation purpose of lower Sindh.
This project to be executed under the joint venture of Turkish and German companies with 50% foreign funding. The Chief Minister Sindh constituted a high powered committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary P&D Department Muhammad Wasim with provincial secretary Irrigation Syed Zaheer Hyder Shah and Provincial Secretary Finance Suhail Rajput to examine and evaluate the technical and financial aspects of project placed in the PC-I prepared by the executing companies and it assigned to recommend the future causes of action.
The meeting which was attended by Sindh Minister for Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah, ACS Development Muhammad. Wasim, Secretary to CM Alumddin Bullo, Secretary Irrigation Syed Zaheer Hyder Shah , Secretary finance Sohail Rajput, Chief Engineer K.B. Feeder Salman Memon, S.E.-K.B feeder Abdul Qadir Palejo from Govt of Sindh , while Mr. Khalil R Khan Led the delegation of HUESKER and atlasyol.schuhenwelt.chpanies from German and Turkey respectively.
Mr. Christoph Hessing represented HUESKER company of German while S. Togan ALPER , M.S.P.E represent to his company ATLASYOL from Turkey and briefed the meeting about their expertise and briefed the meeting about their expertise and importance of project.
Addressing the meeting the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Sha said that lining of the Irrigation Canals was essential need especially at present when we are experiencing the water shortage. He said that water was life for each individual and organization and we cannot afford its wastage in anyway. He said that in addition to irrigation more water is required to fulfill the needs of urban areas, where population in million is residing.
He said that Karachi was huge populated city and it needs more water for human and industrial consumption. As such we have convied the K-4 Mega Water Project for Karachi to meets its requirement.
