PROJECT OVERVIEW
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The 3rd Bosphorus Bridge (Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge) and Northern Marmara Highway Project is one of the most outstanding projects of Türkiye creating a bridge between Asia and Europe. The foundations of the intersection to be built at the connection point of approximately 500 km long Kınalı – Akyazı (Northern Marmara) highway to the TEM highway were improved by using deep soil mixing methods and the embankments were constructed with geogrid reinforced slope structures, thus ensuring the connection of these two main roads with minimum footprint area.
As a result of the construction of the intersection approach embankments with geogrid reinforced slopes, the slope angles were increased from 30° to 70°, thus saving both the amount of fill and the cost of soil improvement and expropriation costs.
