PROJECT OVERVIEW

 

The most important engineering solution within the scope of İstanbul-İzmir Highway project, one of the Türkiye’s landmark projects, is the Gemlik Bay crossing located on a fault line. A suspension bridge was designed and constructed at this problematic location using the most innovative methods and calculation systems.

The soil under the abutment of the bridge on Yalova side was an area with weak soil conditions filled with alluvial deposits.

Atlasyol improved the soil at the end of the bridge by using 5 vibro hammers equipped with full-time data collection and reporting system.

Atlasyol Technical Office adapted the vibro stone column system to the project eliminating the risk of liquefaction with the drainage function of the system and improving the bearing capacity by using a rigid system.

Over 500.000 lm of vibro stone columns were constructed and installed with 100% quality assurance using the full-time quality control systems within a period of only 4 months.
